Asus ROG Phone 5s Pro release on December. Previously ASUS ROG Phone 5 as the Best Gaming Smartphone in 2021 was pinned in mid-2021. And you could say the title can last until last November. No gaming smartphone is officially present in Indonesia yet against the overall ability of ROG Phone 5.
ASUS Indonesia this time presents the latest variant of the ROG Phone 5 family in early December 2021, namely the ROG Phone 5s series. Asus ROG Phone 5s Pro which is the highest series comes with the latest ROG Vision, Snapdragon 888+, 18 GB RAM, and 512 GB storage, a smartphone with the most monster specs that you can buy in Indonesia today.
This review will focus more on discussing the differences presented in the ROG Phone 5s Series, from the previous version, namely the ROG Phone 5 Series.

The box looks like this, it’s huge. When opened, we will see an array of images such as comics to display an Augmented Reality (AR) animation entitled AKIRA. It contains:

Design Asus ROG Phone 5s Pro
The glass material on the back of the body wraps Asus ROG Phone 5s Pro, with aluminum frame. The only color option available in Phantom Black, both on the body and frame, which makes it look more harmonious, between the frame and body colors.
Its dimensions are 172.8 x 77.2 x 9.9 mm, with a weight of 238 Grams. This smartphone is quite heavy, so it is quite a high risk if it falls. It is highly recommended for users to buy a more protective case because the case provided in the sales package is more for appearance purposes only.
ROG Phone 5s standard version is wider in screen than ROG Phone 5s Pro, the screen is what ASUS calls ROG Vision. This is similar to the one on the previous ROG Phone 5 Ultimate, but for the ROG Phone 5s Pro, the screen can display colors.
We can set this ROG Vision in Armory Crate. In addition to the presets that have been provided, we can also install images from our gallery. This small screen can display images, text, animations, incoming call notifications, or when charging. This screen is not a touch screen, and for the images, we choose we cannot only use the animation presets that are available and the number is limited.
Two Rear Touch buttons function as additional L or R buttons on the back. So in addition to having the Air Trigger L1-R1 button on the frame, on the back cover, there is a touch button that might be referred to as the L2-R2 button, so the total extra buttons are 4 buttons.
Users can customize these buttons according to the games they play. This extra button will be very helpful when playing competitive games like PUBG Mobile or other shooter games.
The rest is not much different from the standard ROG Phone 5. Both the size and placement of buttons, even the case for the ROG Phone 5 on the market, can also be used for this ROG Phone 5s.
The improvement is in the touch sampling rate which is now increased to 300Hz for the screen specifications, which are almost similar to the standard ROG Phone 5. The screen measures 6.78 inches, with a Samsung AMOLED Panel, custom made for ASUS. The resolution is Full HD + (2448×1080 px), with Aspect Ratio: 20.4:9. The refresh rate is fixed at 144 Hz, with a Touch Sampling Rate 300Hz and a Response time of 1 ms.
The screen is also HDR 10+ Certified with Delta-E <1 color accuracy. Color gamut is 111% DCI-P3, 150.89% sRGB. Maximum brightness level at 1200 nits and minimum brightness at 5 nits.
There is an in-display fingerprint sensor for using biometric authentication. The display also supports DC Dimming 2.0, SGS Eye Care 6.5%, and SGS Seamless Pro (120Hz) certifications, as well as Display Chip: Pixelworks i6 Processors.
